Snapshots from the 2002 Annual Meeting

National Sweet Sorghum Producers and Processors Association (NSSPPA)

Nedra Outlaw with Morris Bitzer, the indefatigible Executive Secretary of the NSSPPA.

Banquet Scene. (Most are identified in other photos.)
Banquet scene. (Most in foreground and background are identified in other photos.) Banquet scene. (Nedra Outlaw looking at Jim Woodyard [Priddy Farms, Nocona, TX], the Kirbys and the Batteaus.)
Sherry and Mark Guenter (Center, of Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill, producer of award-winning syrup). Sherry is THE vibrant clogger who often entertains at the end of the NSSPPA banquet. Head Table. (William Patten (ex officio), Morris Bitzer, Doug Hildreth (president).)
Head Table. (Jimmy Ross, Jerry Steinlage, Pat Sexton.) Irvin Stephens. (First Place in Syrup Competition.)

Pat Sexton, Jerry Steinlage, and David Purdy (Second Place in Syrup Competition.) Three nice people!

James and Ruby Butcher. (Third Place in Syrup Competition.)
Margaret and Cliff Heil and Larry and Jane Johnson. (Small world: Jane is the sister of the physician who was Nedra's ENT doctor at the time!) Margaret Woodyard, Nedra Outlaw, and William and Marilyn Sue Batteau. (Margaret, health conscious, very graciously gave Nedra two bags of organic sugar.)

Stan Hildebrand. Certainly not to the exclusion of others, Stan is one interesting fellow (African historian, beekeeper, organic farmer). Danny Townsend of Townsend Sorghum Mill. I appreciated Danny's dynamic personality (and the four bottles of syrup, which has consistently rated high in syrup competitions).
David Holland (whose operation has been featured in Southern Living and local publications) having a discussion with the Robinsons. David Jones, dairy farmer, at the registation table.
