The PWA Ditch on the W.H. Outlaw Farm

Elizabeth and I took a few moments on New Year's Day, 2026, to visit the ditch that drains Buck Bay into the Ten-Mile Creek. Dug during the depressiond, it was a WPA (or PWA?) project. In places, it is the property line on the south side of our farm.

Elizabeth stands on the south side of an old beaver dam that blocked the flow of the water from the bay (behind her). Despite the drought, water still stands in the bay.
An enchanted place, the swamp allows one to be alone in her thoughts.
A few yards east of Elizabeth, I stand in the middle of the ditch.(I do not know how deep it was originally.).
