| Information with Photo:Outlaw (originally Outlawe) – From Burke¡Çs General Armory. Assigned June 1613. Arms: Argent (silver) a saltire gules (red) between four wolves¡Ç heads couped proper. Crest: a demi wolf proper pierced through the side with an arrow or (gold), feathered and headed argent (silver), the arrow lying in bend sinisterways. The wolf symbolizes an able warrier. The saltire was St. Andrew¡Çs cross given to crusaders who had fought valiantly to regain the holy land. The arrow is symbolic also of a brave soldier. Meaning of the colors: Silver signified purity and constancy. Red denotes military fortitude. Painted by Mary C. | Comments:Nedra and I commissioned Mrs. Ayers (wife of a UGA professor, as we recall) to paint this coat of arms, which we gave to my parents for a Christmas present. (We did the same for the Norton coat of arms and Nedra\\\'s parents.) Supplemental B is the image in pdf format (~5 MB.), which is compatible with Acrobat v. 8 and higher. |
